The Movie Challenge

I like to come up with a little movie challenge every year – some years have been more successful than others!

This year out of pure love I decided I wanted to undertake a challenge I created myself, using the history of a podcast I absolutely love! I heartily recommend checking it out for movie reviews and general hilarity… Check out the Skip To The End website to find out more.

THE REWATCH – (As explained by STTE):

As well as reviewing new releases, on each episode of the podcast we rewatch an old movie. It can be a stone cold classic, a notorious disaster, or maybe just an underappreciated gem, but whatever it is we review it and rate it. Listen to each episode for our full reviews.

These are ALL of the rewatches, as taken from the website, up until the end of 2018, with two removed for sheer unwillingness to watch them, and because then it’s 100 and that’s just satisfying! The goal is simple. To watch as many of them in a year as I can! All titles will be highlighted once watched, lets see how we do!

And so, for 2019 we have:

This year we have decided on a “movie series” challenge – once a month watching a series of 3 or more films! This should be an extremely easy year….

  • March: Pirates of the Caribbean 1-5
  • April: ALL of the (Released) Marvel movies (That’s 18 films) and Infinity War!
  • May: Daniel Craig’s Bond : Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre
  • June: Indiana Jones! (Starting with ToD- those in the know will get it) Temple of Doom, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Last Crusade, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
  • July: Jaws, Jaws 2, Jaws 3 and Jaws: The Revenge
  • August: Planet of the Apes trilogy (Rise/Dawn/War)
  • September: Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal
  • October: Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection
  • November: Die Hard, Die Hard 2, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Die Hard 4.0, A Good Day to Die Hard
  • December: The Santa Clause, The Santa Clause 2, The Santa Clause 3

2017 Movie Challenge!

This year I have a bit of help from Stu – as this is a list we came up with at the beginning of the year together – a list of all the films we want to see this year. We see a lot, generally it seems to be around 12-14 a year, however this year it’s a rather impressive 25!

SO the challenge is to see them all! Sounds simple, but it depends on a few things, including whether films are being shown -at least reasonably- locally (which can be a struggle here in Cornwall) and at times we can actually go and see them (such as not during work hours, as happened with at least one film I wanted to see last year).

Here is the list (not necessarily in release order, but hopefully reasonably close) I will colour them in BLUE when they have been accomplished!

  • Assassins Creed
  • X X X 3
  • Trainspotting 2 (T2)
  • John Wick 2
  • Logan
  • Kong Skull Island
  • Beauty and the Beast
  • Ghost in the Shell – Decided against it….
  • Fast 8 – Decided against it….
  • Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2
  • King Arthur: Legend of the Sword
  • Alien Covenant
  • Wonder Woman *Added in
  • Pirates of the Caribbean 5
  • Transformers 5 – The Last Knight – Decided against it…..
  • Baby Driver *Added in – and saw it TWICE
  • Despicable Me 3
  • Spiderman Homecoming
  • Cars 3
  • War for the Planet of the Apes
  • The Dark Tower
  • Valerian – Decided against it….
  • Annabelle 2
  • IT
  • Kingsman 2
  • Blade Runner 2049
  • Thor: Ragnarok – And saw it TWICE
  • Murder on the Orient Express
  • Bad Mom’s Christmas
  • Star Wars Episode VIII – The Last Jedi

Grand Total: 27!
